Takt time is a term used in lean manufacturing to measure the available time to complete a process or produce a product in order to meet customer demand. It is calculated by dividing the available production time by the customer demand.
For example, let's say you have 8 hours of production time(worktime in minutes) available in a day and the customer demands 400 units in that same day and with 30 minutes break time.
Follow the steps
Enter 120 into the box marked " worktime in minutes"
Enter 400 into the box marked" demand, D"
Enter 30 into the box marked" breaktime in minutes
Hit the check mark to calculate the takt time.
Determine the available production time: This is the total amount of time available for production during a specified time period. It is usually measured in hours or minutes.
Determine the customer demand: This is the number of units or products that the customer requires within the same specified time period.
Divide the available production time by the customer demand: This calculation will give you the takt time, which represents the time available to produce each unit or product.
